Upgrading The Firmware

Liteon's own instructions for upgrading in DOS:

1. Make sure your drive's model name by inspecting the safety label on top of your drive.
2. Download the ZIP file with correct model name.
3. Please unzip the downloaded ZIP file of firmware.
4. Important: Please Reboot you PC from DOS mode (either from Floppy or Harddrive).
5. Enter the directory where your upgrade execution file is.
6. Please make sure to keep power suppler without any interruption during upgrade.
7. Execute the firmware upgrade execution file.
8. Select the drive you want to upgrade(if you have more than one LITEON drives)
9. Upgrading. (No Power Interruption)
10. Reboot your PC to see the frimware has been changed.

problems getting to DOS?

5. Please make sure to keep power suppler without any interruption during upgrade.

9. Reboot your PC to see the frimware has been changed.

My own extra precautions which I strongly recommend for ANY flashing in Windows:

If you have any packet writing program (InCd, DirectCD), uninstall it! You can install it again later.
Reboot or restart Windows just before you flash, a fresh Windows is less likely to crash.
Close all applications, including all the stuff in the tray and anti virus software.
Make sure there's NO media in the drive.
If you live in an unreliable electricity supply area and have no UPS, don't flash at peak hours!
